Home    Conserving natural resources

FRLHT strongly believes that local health traditions can be put into practice only by creating awareness among the public and its participation. Towards familiarising the plant resources that are used in our traditions to the different user groups, it was decided to establish a demonstration garden of medicinal plants, named Ethno-Medicinal Garden (EMG). This forms a part of the Centre of Excellence (COE) program under the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

FRLHT perceives its programs in two phases; one as knowledge generation phase and the other as strategic phase that can create social impact. EMG has started providing technical know-how to the interested institutions for landscaping and establishment of medicinal gardens. Such support was provided during the year to the clients such as ICICI Knowledge Park, Hyderabad; ‘Sankalp’ residence at Hulimavu, Bangalore; Income Tax Training Institute, Bangalore; Native Village, Eco Resort & Health Spa, Hessaraghatta, Bangalore; South Indian Sponge Iron Limited, Malur, Bangalore; National Centre for Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bangalore; Times Apartment, Indira Nagar, Bangalore; Residential layout at Sarjapura and many more.
